Seasons change and summer approaches. Burghley House opened to the public again last Saturday. Doreen and I went to look round on Sunday and, today, I start my 8th season as a guide there. At times it seems that I have been there for many more years but it still doesn’t stop that surge of expectation of spending time in the fabulous house. Just being there is tremendous but talking to the visitors is really the icing on the cake. It really is a live mixture of times long gone and modern visualisation.
As one door opens another gently closes. Tonight will be the last of the winter’s ghost walks in Peterborough. As the days get longer and nights lighter the atmosphere on the walk changes. Tonight is the last time for quite a few months when I can stand in the darkness of the trees on the north-side of the cathedral and tell of strange happening many centuries ago.
Two very different styles of fun in one day – fantastic!
